The hymn book now has a total of 37 songs, with more being added every few months. The Church encourages congregations, families and individuals to begin using these hymns beginning immediately.

A global church

Within the next 24 hours, the new hymns will be available online and on the Music Library, Gospel Library and Sacred Music apps in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French.

According to a church press release, “Faith in Every Footstep” commemorated the 150th anniversary of Latter-day Saint pioneers entering the Salt Lake Valley. It was included in the previous hymn books in Croatian, Czech, Estonian, Hungarian and Romanian.

The Church also announced that the first 13 hymns, which were released in May 2024, are now available in German, Korean and Tagalog, and they will be available in Japanese and Mandarin in the coming months.

Select hymns will also be translated into additional languages, including Afrikaans, Burmese, Igbo, Malay, Navajo, Persian, Setswana, Twi, Yoruba and Zulu.

“We hear the promise and prophecy in the scriptures that all people — every nation, kindred, tongue and people — will be able to learn of the gospel,” said Kayla Decker, the translation manager for the new hymnbook. “The taking of this hymnal to the world, to me, is a manifestation of that prophecy of God.”

Learning more about the hymns

Each hymn in the new “Hymns — For Home and Church” book is accompanied by an explanation of the hymn’s history along with related scriptures and questions on the “About the Hymns” section of the Church website.
