Elder Dale G. Renlund of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will dedicate the San Luis Potosí Mexico Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints this fall.
The San Luis Potosí temple, currently planned to be the 15th Latter-day Saint temple in Mexico, will be dedicated Sunday, Nov. 1, in a dedicatory session that will broadcast and rebroadcast to all church units in the area at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Preceding the October dedicatory session, the San Luis Potosí Mexico Temple will open its doors to the public with a free public open house period. Tours will run every Monday through Saturday from Sept. 24 to Oct. 10 (excluding Saturday, Oct. 3 for the faith’s semiannual general conference).
Guests of all faiths and ages will be welcome to tour the temple at this time.
The San Luis Potosí temple will also open its doors to the media on Monday, Sept. 21. Private tours for invited guests will take place Sept. 22-23.
The San Luis Potosí Mexico Temple was first announced during the church’s April 2022 general conference by then-church President Russell M. Nelson. Another temple in Mexico — the Mexico City Benemérito Temple — was also announced on that occasion.
A total of 27 temples in Mexico are currently in operation, under construction, or in planning or design stages.
Of these temples, 14 are currently operating; two — the Querétaro and Torreón temples — are under construction; and 10 others are in the planning or design stage.
The San Luis Potosí temple is the only Mexico temple currently scheduled for dedication. Once dedicated, it will join the 14 temples currently serving more than 1.5 million Latter-day Saints in Mexico.
