The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced the Fort Worth Texas Temple will be dedicated January 2027.
The Fort Worth temple, to be the sixth operating temple in Texas, will be dedicated Sunday, Jan. 10, in a dedicatory session that will be broadcast to all church units in the area.
As currently scheduled and announced by the church, the Fort Worth Texas Temple will be the first temple dedicated in 2027.
The doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ centers on the family, and essential to that doctrine is the temple, taught church President Dallin H. Oaks in a recent general conference. “The ordinances received there enable us to return as eternal families to the presence of our Heavenly Father.”
The Fort Worth Texas Temple was first announced in October 2021 general conference and is one of 10 temples in Texas that are currently under construction, in operation or in planning and design stages.
Construction of the Fort Worth temple began in October 2023 in Burleson, Texas. The temple will be a single-story structure of approximately 30,000 square feet.
Preceding the temple’s dedication, the public will be welcome to tour the Fort Worth temple during a free public open house period that will run every Monday through Saturday from Thursday, Nov. 5, to Saturday, Nov. 21.
A media day for the temple will also be held Monday, Nov. 2, followed by private tours for invited guests on Nov. 3-4.
