Additional tickets to tour the historic Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be released in two waves during the next few weeks, the church has announced.

The upcoming ticket releases will take place Sept. 15 and Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. MDT. The two waves are part of a planned approach to accommodate as many visitors as possible, according to a church press release.

“We are reaching out to all the world to invite them to come and see what is happening here in Salt Lake City,” President Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles said in a press event held inside the Salt Lake Temple on Tuesday, Sept. 1.

“There are hundreds of thousands of reasons we are here, because we are reaching out to you individually, and we invite you again to come and see.”

The theme of the Salt Lake Temple celebration is “Rejoice in Christ,” President Uchtdorf announced.

The first 1 million tickets to tour the Salt Lake Temple were claimed in less than 24 hours. Church and civic leaders expect 4 to 5 million people to visit Salt Lake City during the six-month temple open house in 2027.

The historic temple open house will also mark the first time in 134 years that the public will be invited to see inside the Salt Lake Temple.

During the celebration, families and individuals will be able to tour the temple and see a variety of exhibits, performances, films and other activities centered on Jesus Christ.

Virtual experiences, including a virtual tour of the Salt Lake Temple, will also be available for those who cannot make it to Salt Lake City.

“We invite everyone to come and see,” President Chibota said. “We invite everyone to come and learn, and then we invite everyone to come and feel God’s love for you and also feel the peace that is found in the temple.”
