I note young people gathered at various locations, with hastily made posters, to hear speeches on climate. I observe not much proposed from the assembled group on how they will change or reorder their own lives to facilitate the proposed lifestyle changes.
In short, it appeared to be a nice walk in the late summer sun, cut class, garner some publicity, feel good and make it home in time for supper and some FaceTime on social media.
I offer that if the adolescents and nascent adults are truly concerned about this cause, they would reorder their personal lifestyle and leisure pursuits to accommodate the goals and objectives they espouse for “us.”
In addition, I propose they reorder their academic curricula to the science and technical fields that will prepare them to be of service and use in the reordering of society they so vocally propose for society but appear to shirk in personal practice.
I suggest that we older folks have seen a lot of marches and gatherings for a myriad of causes. A few dramatic and significant, but most were “… all sound and fury, signifying nothing.”
