I witness established Utah businesses greatly suffer through this pandemic during this recent wave of COVID-19 cases infesting our great state. I witness daily pleas from our elected Utah officials to advise us of proven COVID-19 evasive steps in hand hygiene, wearing of masks in public, and proper social distancing.

The majority of civic-minded Utahans are being compliant with these requested measures of safety. Yet our elected officials are providing the unnecessary counsel that we should avoid eating out and traveling, essentially counseling us to all stay home and wait for better days. This is so wrong. There are established business safety measures that are in place to provide all of us a safe environment.

Please go out, enjoy and support local businesses. We can individually do our best to control COVID, but we can also live. Restaurants are safe, airplanes are safe, small businesses are safe — so long as we follow those important health guidelines. Stop putting your head in the sand, and support Utah businesses.
