Once again, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow reaches out to offer comfort in pain and a call to reflect on these times, thanks to Samuel Benson (“The paradox of peace on earth,” Dec. 19). This is a time for reflection, gratitude for Congress finally moving on relief, and rededicating ourselves to do our part in democracy, beyond voting.
By thanking our representatives for this first step on the road to equity, we establish ongoing communication that will continue as we call for an end to hunger and homelessness, as well as universal health care and quality education for all that actually leads to employment that supports families. Together we can move forward on the path to a country that works for everyone.
