Thank you, Deseret News, for highlighting Sen. Mitt Romney’s support of a “price on carbon” and the need for a “border adjusted tax” (Why these 2 Utah GOP congressmen are embracing worldwide climate change issues, Oct 25). And, thanks to Romney for his statement that climate change is one of the three biggest issues the U.S. is ignoring in his speech about the U.S. Constitution at Brigham Young University on Sept. 17.

For many years the Citizens Climate Lobby has persistently lobbied the Senate and House for Carbon Fee & Dividend with a border adjustment legislation. We greatly appreciate Romney saying, in the Deseret News article, this approach is “the holy grail” and “the only thing that really makes a difference.”

If a carbon fee and dividend, with a border adjustment, is not included in the current reconciliation package, we ask Romney to work with both Republicans and Democrats to enact such legislation.
