“Today” show host Savannah Guthrie issued a heart-wrenching plea on Mother’s Day Sunday as the search for her mom, Nancy Guthrie, continues into the 100th day.
“Mother, daughter, sister, Nonie — we miss you with every breath. We will never stop looking for you. We will never be at peace until we find you,” Savannah Guthrie wrote in an emotional post on Instagram, alongside a video featuring her mom.
“We need help. Someone knows something that can make the difference,” Guthrie said. “Call 1800CALLFBI. You can be anonymous and the reward remains available.”
Law enforcement continues to analyze DNA and video evidence, but no suspect has been identified in this ongoing case. The FBI has offered a $100,000 reward for any information in connection with Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance. Meanwhile, Savannah Guthrie and her family are offering a $1 million reward, as well as donating $500,000 to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
“Please keep praying. Bring her home,” Savannah Guthrie said in her post.
Savannah Guthrie to host new game show amid a difficult time
Savannah’s husband, Michael Feldman, also shared an emotional message on Mother’s Day.
“To the strongest person I know,” Feldman, 57, wrote alongside a photo of Savannah with her children, Vale, 11, and Charley, 9. “Surrounding you with love on Mother’s Day. ❤️💔❤️.”
These heartfelt messages come amid NBC’s announcement that Savannah Guthrie will anchor a new TV show based on The New York Times’ popular word game, Wordle.
Guthrie, in a recent interview, said that she connected with her mother over Wordle.
“It’s strange to get up and do the ‘Today’ show every day, and it’s strange to say that I’m going to do a game show when your heart is broken. Nothing about that has changed, and it’s not easy,” she said. “But I’m determined to put one foot in front of the other. And this is a joyous thing.”
Where does the investigation stand?
Nancy Guthrie is believed to have been taken from her home on Feb. 1. Her family has acknowledged the possibility that Guthrie might be gone.
“We still believe. We still believe in a miracle. We still believe that she can come home,” Savannah Guthrie said in a previous post. “We also know that she may be lost. She may already be gone.”
A masked man appeared on Nancy Guthrie’s doorstep on Jan. 31 and the early morning hours of Feb. 1, as well as Jan. 11, according to the authorities.
The Pima County sheriff said the investigation remains active until either Guthrie is located or all the leads are exhausted.
Throughout the investigation, authorities have spoken about different aspects of the case, such as motive, DNA found and suspects caught on video. But investigators have not always confirmed their findings or shared specific details because doing so could jeopardize the investigation, as the Deseret News previously reported.
Soon after Nancy Guthrie went missing, several news outlets received ransom notes with specific payment deadlines. The family also received ransom demands. These demands were reviewed by the FBI for authenticity.
The ransom notes connected to Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance
During an interview with friend and former co-host Hoda Kotb, Savannah Guthrie was asked if she thought the various ransom demands sent to her family and media outlets were real.
“There are a lot of different notes, I think, that came,” she said. “And I think most of them, it’s my understanding, are not real. And I didn’t see them. But a person that would send a fake ransom note really has to look deeply at themselves. To a family in pain. But I believe the two notes that we received that we responded to, I tend to believe those are real.”
In February, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI shared that they were investigating multiple ransom notes but never confirmed whether any of them were believed to be from the people behind Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, according to Today.
The authorities also have Ring doorbell camera footage of someone approaching her doorstep, slumped over and wearing a backpack and gloves, and carrying what appears to be a gun.
