The Utah State defense will be bolstered by a grad transfer from a Power Five program after former Kansas cornerback Kyle Mayberry announced on Twitter he’ll join the Aggies.

Utah State beat out two Power Five schools — Texas Tech and Oregon State — as well as Liberty, UConn and Western Kentucky for his services, as Mayberry revealed his top six options on New Year’s Eve.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound Mayberry started 12 games and played in 43 over the past five seasons, including a redshirt year, at Kansas. He finished his time as a Jayhawk with 101 career tackles, including 83 solo, as well as 5.5 tackles for loss and 11 pass deflections.

The Aggies have added three transfers since Blake Anderson took over as head coach in mid-December. That includes quarterback Logan Bonner, who like Anderson heads to Logan from Arkansas State, as well as a junior college transfer in Aurion Peoples. Peoples was a defensive tackle at College of the Canyons who also had scholarship offers from Arkansas State, Eastern Michigan, Kent State and Liberty, per 247 Sports.
