The high school girls basketball season came to an official close on Saturday with the Utah Girls Basketball Coaches Association all-star games at Mountain Ridge High School.

The quadruple header featured a combined 6A game, a combined 5A game, a 4A vs. 3A game and a 2A vs. 1A game.

In the day’s first game, the 5A dark all-stars coached by Springville’s Holli Averett edged the 5A light all-stars 66-49. Springville’s Kayla Jackson led the winning team with 20 points, while Farmington’s Valerie Kunzler led her squad with 21 points.

The second game between the 6A dark squad and 6A light squad proved to be the best game of the day as the 6A dark squad coached by Fremont’s Lisa Dalebout prevailed in overtime.

The 6A light squad actually scored more points, with a 74-63 advantage, but each quarter was considered its own mini game and with each team winning two quarters the neded to go into overtime to settle the 2-2 tie.

Pleasant Grove’s Eva Ongoongotau led the light squad with 24 points on four 3-pointers, with Westlake’s Halle Hester chipping in with 20.

Fremont’s Emma Calvert led all scorers with 34 points for the dark squad.

In the third game of the day the 1A all-stars pulled off the mild upset over the 2A all-stars with the 72-65 win.

Piute’s Ashley Talbot and Milford’s Kinley Spaulding led the way for the 1A squad with 20 points each.

In the finale, the 4A all-stars rolled all over the 3A all-stars for the 92-56 victory. The 4A squad led 19-7 after the first quarter and stretched it to 49-23 by halftime.

The 4A squad had five players score in double figures, led by Pine View’s Averi Papa and Logan’s Amber Kartchner, who each scored 14 points.
