Former BYU golfers Patrick Fishburn and Daniel Summerhays will see a familiar face at the Korn Ferry Tour’s Utah Championship this week.

Former BYU standout and Corner Canyon High product Rhett Rasmussen was among the eight golfers who qualified on Monday to play in the PGA Tour event at Oakridge Country Club in Farmington.

In the usual Monday qualifying event at TalonsCove Golf Course in Saratoga Springs, Rasmussen tied for third with an 8-under 64 to to qualify

Former Florida State golfer Rowin Caron, who is from The Netherlands, and TK Kim shot 11-under 61s to tie for low-round honors. Caron made 12 birdies and one bogey; Kim made nine birdies and an eagle at TalonsCove, which has five mostly reachable par-5s.

Rasmussen played bogey-free golf, adding an eagle to six birdies. Also shooting 64 and qualifying on the number were pros Jared Sawada, Nathan Starney, Andy Spencer, Chandler Eaton and Michael Sakane, who is an amateur.

Utah club pro Joe Summerhays was in a group of four golfers at -7 who missed qualifying by one stroke. 

Former University of Utah golfers Kyler Dunkle, Mitchell Schow and Casey Fowles shot 67s and missed qualifying by three strokes.

The Utah Championship begins Thursday and runs through Sunday at the Davis County layout just north of Lagoon Amusement Park.
