Colorado may have been embarrassed by BYU at Saturday’s Alamo Bowl, but Deion Sanders and his Buffaloes can take comfort knowing they helped set a record just by showing up.
The Alamo Bowl announced Tuesday that Saturday’s BYU-Colorado game was the most-watched Alamo Bowl broadcast in the organization’s 32-year history.
“This year was one for the record books!” the Alamo Bowl said on X.
The graphic accompanying the Alamo Bowl’s X post showed that the BYU-Colorado game had 8 million viewers, about 200,000 more than the second-most popular Alamo Bowl broadcast.
Here are the top five most viewed Alamo Bowls:
- BYU vs. Colorado on Dec. 28, 2024 — 8 million viewers
- Michigan State vs. Texas Tech on Jan. 2, 2010 — 7.8 million viewers
- Texas vs. Iowa on Dec. 30, 2006 — 7.8 million viewers
- Oregon vs. Texas on Dec. 30, 2013 — 7.5 million viewers
- Oregon vs. TCU on Jan. 2, 2016 — 7.4 million viewers
Saturday’s game wasn’t just well watched on ABC. It was well attended.
The Alamo Bowl announced Saturday that the game had a capacity crowd with 64,261 people in attendance.
The BYU-Colorado game was only the second Alamo Bowl involving two out-of-state teams that reached capacity, the X post noted.
The Alamo Bowl thanked BYU and Colorado football fans for showing up to support their teams.
