For the 20th occasion in program history, BYU has ended a college football season ranked in the AP top 25 poll.

The final rankings for the 2024 season were released Tuesday morning, and the Cougars came in at No. 13.

BYU jumped four spots from its previous No. 17 ranking following a convincing 36-14 win over Colorado in the Alamo Bowl.

Other Big 12 teams featured in the poll were No. 7 Arizona State, No. 15 Iowa State and No. 25 Colorado.

SMU, who the Cougars defeated on the road back in September, was ranked at No. 12.

BYU’s No. 13 status is the seventh-highest finish for the team in program history.

Only in 1980, 1983, 1984, 1996, 2009 and 2020 did the Cougars end the season with a better ranking. BYU also finished at No. 13 in 1979 and 1981.

Kalani Sitake has now earned his third ranked finish at the helm in Provo, with his teams coming in at No. 11 in 2020 and No. 19 in 2021.

Given the amount of talent the Cougars will bring back in 2025, they will likely be ranked in the preseason poll for the 13th time ever.

ESPN has already put BYU at No. 9 on its “way too early top 25″ for the upcoming campaign.
