Juab High School’s coed competitive cheer team made it a three-peat at the 3A state championships at UVU on Wednesday, while Morgan’s all-girls squad repeated as state champs.

Juab finished first in two of three categories — Sideline/Timeout Cheer and Show — to edge North Sanpete for the coed team title. The Hawks finished first in Sideline/Timeout Dance.

“So proud of this team. They fought hard for this win against some very deserving teams,” said Juab cheer coach Taraca Davidson.

Manti, Emery and Ben Lomond rounded out the top five in 3A coed.

In the all-girls category, Morgan swept all three categories to repeat as 3A champs. Richfield, Grantsville, South Summit and Canyon View rounded out the top five.

This is the third year the UHSAA has sanctioned competitive cheer and handed out state championship trophies.
