With the Big 12 releasing its 2025 schedule Tuesday morning, BYU finally knows its official football slate for the fall.
The Cougars are headed into their third year in the conference, having finished 7-2 in league play in 2024 as one of the most surprising and impressive squads in the country.
Despite tying for the best record in the Big 12, tiebreaker rules kept BYU out of the conference championship game — though Kalani Sitake’s squad will likely be among the preseason league favorites this summer.

Kickoff times for each game will be announced later.
The Big 12 championship game is scheduled for Dec. 6 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Highlights from BYU’s 2025 football schedule
- The Cougars will open Big 12 play on the road against Deion Sanders’ Colorado squad — a rematch of this past December’s Alamo Bowl.
- Similar to last year, the famed rivalry matchup between BYU and Utah will not be the regular season finale, but will rather take place in mid-October. The Utes will visit Provo for the first time since 2021.
- The Cougars’ Nov. 8 trip to Texas Tech will mark their first time playing in Lubbock since 1940.
- BYU has two bye weeks, although the first is a bit unconventional in that it comes between non-conference contests.
- The combined 2024 records of BYU’s upcoming Big 12 opponents is 61-53.
- With neither Kansas nor Arizona State on the schedule, the Cougars will not face any of their 2024 losses in 2025.
