Ryder Lyons just opened his final season of high school football with a bang.
The highly-touted BYU commit led his Folsom High squad to a 51-13 victory over rival Grant Union Saturday night, with ESPN broadcasting the blowout to a national audience.
Lyons was excellent for Folsom, completing 31 of 37 passes for 408 yards and four touchdowns while rushing for another score as well.

Such a performance would be impressive against anyone, but especially against Grant Union, who was ranked as the No. 2 overall team — behind Folsom — in the Sacramento area.
Grant turned the night into a particularly chippy affair, being flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct prior to kickoff while taunting Lyons, hitting him late and even taking shots at his head throughout the contest.
But none of it fazed Lyons, who orchestrated the 38-point victory with ease — he took his final snap of the night at the beginning of the fourth quarter — and threw for the third-most yards in any game of his career, according to MaxPreps.
Of Lyons’ four touchdown passes, the most significant was his first, where he connected with Rob Larson for the 67-yard score.
Lyons is currently rated by 247 Sports as the No. 5 quarterback prospect in the country and top overall recruit out of California. His commitment to the Cougars is considered one of the most notable recruiting wins in BYU program history.
