High schools across the Wasatch Front experienced weather delays during its Friday night football action in Week 8 which forced many early cancellations and postponements.

Of the 55 games on Friday, a total of 24 of them went into at least one weather delay.

Nine games called the game early (most were already blowouts). Five games in Weber and Davis County postponed the game until Saturday. Eleven other games waited out the weather and ultimately finished, including one game that finished well after midnight.

Kearns-Taylorsville ended at 11:23 p.m., Jordan-Cottonwood finished at 11:45 p.m. and Copper Hills-Bingham finished at 11:56 p.m. Mountain Ridge-Herriman was the last game to finish after three lighning delays at 12:47 a.m.

Here’s the affected games.


Postponed Games

Davis 14, Farmington 10 (Will resume Saturday at 2 p.m.)

Davis is fighting off an upset but didn’t get to finish after a night filled with lightning delays. Farmington held a 10-7 lead after the first quarter, but a 56-yard touchdown pass from Tradon Bessinger to Bode Sparrow allowed the Darts to retake the lead.

Davis leads 14-10 and the game was postponed at the 0:28 mark in the second quarter. The game will resume tomorrow at 2 p.m.

Weber 14, Syracuse 13 (Will resume Saturday at 12 p.m.)

A game with big Region 1 implications will have to finish tomorrow as Weber (4-3) and Syracuse (5-2) will resume its game tommorrow at noon.

Weber is undefeated in Region 1 with a 3-0 record and is fighting to keep its perfect region record. Syracuse scored an early touchdown, but Weber scored 14 unanswered points.

Syracuse with just two seconds left to narrow the score 14-13, but the game went into a weather delay and then was postponed immediately after the touchdown.

Bonneville 19, Clearfield 7 (Will resume Saturday at 10 a.m.)

Bonneville (0-7) and Clearfield (2-5) only got through one full quarter of play before the game was postponed. Bonneville looks to get its first win of the season, and will start with a 19-7 lead tomorrow.

The game will start at 10 a.m tomorrow and it will resume with 10:41 remaining in the second quarter. Both teams are looking for thier first in-region win of the year.

Roy 7, Northridge 0 (Will resume Saturday at 5 p.m.)

Roy (2-5) and Northridge (2-4) narrowly missed out at halftime as the game was postponed with only 39 seconds left in the first half. Roy took a slim lead with a touchdown early in the second quarter, but it still remains a one-score game.

The Region 5 action will resume tomorrow at 5 p.m and will pick up with 0:39 remaining in the second quarter.

West Field 14, Layton 0 (Will resume Saturday at 4 p.m.)

West Field (5-2) and Layton (2-5) had to postpone after a delay hit with 1:30 left in the second quarter.

At the time of the delay, West Field held a 14-0 lead. Longhorns’ quarterback Easton Eilertson had just thrown a 77-yard touchdown pass to Gavin Ortegon just minutes before the dealy.

The game will pick back up tomorrow at 4 p.m. with 1:30 left in the first half.


Games Called Early

Lehi 26, American Fork 3

Region 3 madness continued as Lehi took care of buisness with a 26-3 win over American Fork. Both Lehi and American Fork now hold a 1-1 Region 3 record. The game was called with 9:40 left in the fourth quarter.

Hillcrest 28, Cyprus 7

Hillcrest ended a four-game losing streak to beat Cyprus Friday night. The Huskies improved to 2-6 on the year and 1-4 in Region 4. The game was called at halftime but not until the teams waited nearly two hours to try and resume the game.

Springville 28, Timpview 0

Springville improves to 7-1 overall and 4-1 in Region 7. The game was called with only 5:44 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Skyline 53, East 21

Skyline dominated East 53-21 and improved its win streak to six in-a-row. The Eagles improved to 6-2 overall and 4-0 in Region 10. The game was called with 9:38 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Sky View 55, Deseret Peak 0

The struggling inagural year for Deseret Peak continued as it lost to Sky View 55-0. The Bobcats improved to 5-3 on the year and 4-1 in Region 11. The game was called at halftime.

Green Canyon 28, Tooele 0

Green Canyon got back-to-back shutouts with a 28-0 win over Tooele. The Wolves beat Bear River 35-0 in week 7. Green Canyon improved to 5-3 overall and 4-1 in Region 11. The game was called at halftime.

Logan 36, Ben Lomond 0

Logan finished off Ben Lomond 36-0 for its third consecutive win. Logan improved to 3-4 on the year and 3-0 in 3A North. The teams waited out a two-hour weather delay with nine minutes left in the second quarter. Once they resumed, the teams finished the first half and then called the game at halftime.

Olympus 28, Viewmont 0

Olympus improved to 4-4 on the season as Preston Ferran threw for two touchdowns and ran for another. Olympus scored a pair of TDs early in the fourth quarter before weather hit with 9:12 remaining in the game. The game never resumed and was called.

Layton Christian 34, Providence Hall 8

Layton Christian got its fourth consecutive win with a 34-8 victory over Providence Hall. Weather delayed the game at halftime and the game was called. Providence Hall fell to 2-6 on the year.
