The BYU Cougars basketball program already has the top high school prospect in the country from 2025 on its roster in AJ Dybantsa, and now the Cougars will be getting the top prospect from the junior college ranks.

On Sunday, On3’s Joe Tipton reported that guard KJ Perry of Citrus College in California has committed to BYU.

Tipton reported that Perry will join the Cougars within the next few months but redshirt the 2025-26 season and begin playing in the 2026-27 campaign.

Listed by 247 Sports at 6-foot-2 and 165 pounds, Perry chose BYU over USC, SMU and TCU, Tipton reported.

Originally from Arizona, Perry graduated from high school in California. Lightly recruited in high school, he committed to play for Cal State Northridge all the way back in January of 2024, 247 reported, but backed off that pledge about three months later and went to Citrus College.

Perry flourished at Citrus last season, where he averaged 17.5 points, 2.8 assists and 2.5 rebounds in 24.3 minutes per game while shooting 49.5% from the field and 34.7% from behind the 3-point line.

According to 247, high major schools began offering Perry in January of this year, and BYU entered the picture in mid-July.
