The 2025-2026 high school girls basketball season gets underway this week with the official start of the season on Tuesday. To prepare fans for the upcoming season, the Deseret News has put together capsules for every team in 4A. Every coach was invited to participate and submit information.
The region rankings are based on coaches preseason projections.
There are nine new head basketball coaches in 4A this year: Madison Jensen (Summit Academy), Kami Elison (Uintah), Ezra Irvin (Desert Hills), Garrett Rose (Hurricane), Josh Archuleta (Highland), Terry Tyson (Park City), Casey Higley (Bear River), Skyler Beard (Deseret Peak) and Whitney Cruz (Stansbury).

Coach comment: Provo had an outstanding season last year and made a run in the state tournament (21-4). They come into the 25-26 season hungry to prove themselves again in 4A. Provo returns some key players who will have a big impact including lead guard, sophomore Sage Yenchik (8.5 ppg, 4.3 assts, 3.7 stls). They have an athletic, defensive minded team with players that run the floor well and the ability to get in front of opposing teams in transition.
3. Uintah Utes
Head coach: Kami Elison (1st year).

Coach comment: The Uintah Utes enter the 2025-26 season with a renewed vision and fresh leadership under newly appointed head coach Kami Elison. With a redefined culture, elevated standards and a focus on discipline and development, the Utes are aiming to build a competitive identity this year.
Leading the roster is Seton Hall Division I commit Kenadie Maughan, whose scoring ability, strength around the rim and versatility on both ends of the floor will anchor the team’s performance. Maughan’s experience and leadership will be pivotal in setting expectations and guiding younger athletes.
Supporting the core are junior guards Jaevry Elison and Taylor Smith, who are expected to play vital roles in the team’s offensive production, defensive intensity, and on-court leadership. Senior forward Ella Henline will also be a key contributor, bringing heart, teamwork and a strong interior presence
While the program has faced early injuries affecting depth, it has opened the door for the next wave of Utes to develop and step into meaningful minutes. Several younger athletes are expected to see expanded roles as the season progresses, gaining valuable varsity experience that will strengthen the program.
4. Timpanogos Timberwolves
Head coach: Tony Ingle (2nd year).
