Since Roy Castleton debuted for the New York Yankees in 1907, 51 Utah natives have played Major League Baseball.

Six of those Utah-born players have appeared in MLB games this season, along with three others who came out of Beehive State colleges as well.

Here’s how the seven MLB players from Utah schools have performed thus far after two months of the regular season.

The typically reliable Banks has had a slow start to 2026, currently sporting a 6.41 earned run average and 0-3 record after 20 relief appearances.

However, he is averaging 10.5 strikeouts per nine innings, which is the highest mark of his career.

In 219 games between Philadelphia and the Chicago White Sox, Banks has a 11-12 lifetime record with a 3.85 ERA and 262 strikeouts.

Traded to the Rays less than a week ago from the White Sox, Dunn recorded his first at-bat of 2026 on Monday after having a few appearances as a pinch runner and defensive substitution.

In 58 career games, mostly with the Milwaukee Brewers, Dunn has hit for a .205 average with 27 hits, a home run and 13 runs batted in.

The former 23rd round draft pick has a 7.15 ERA through seven relief appearances this year and was recently sent down to the minors, but he flashed as a rookie in 2025 with a 1.54 ERA down the stretch for the Astros.

A career backup backstop, Porter has played in one game for the Giants this year, not receiving an at-bat but scoring as a pinch runner.

Porter has played in 17 games for the Giants and Kansas City Royals since 2024, logging 107 innings behind the plate in total.

One of the league’s most capable utility men, Schneemann is batting .243 with four home runs, 19 runs batted in and a .325 on base percentage while playing five different positions.

In 248 games for Cleveland since 2024, Schneemann has clubbed 21 home runs with 82 RBI and a .985 fielding percentage.

One of just three MLB players to come from UVU, Schultz is 0-2 with a 5.30 ERA and 21 strikeouts across 18 2/3 innings out of Washington’s bullpen this year.

Schultz debuted with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2025, tossing 24 2/3 innings with a 4.38 ERA and 28 punchouts.

In 25 games for the A’s, Sterner is 2-3 with a 4.01 ERA and 25 strikeouts.

Since debuting with the club when it was still located in Oakland back in 2024, Sterner’s 86 relief appearances have yielded a 6-6 record, 3.36 ERA and 99 strikeouts.
