The stakes

After AJ Dybantsa was selected No. 1 overall by the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night, his BYU teammate Richie Saunders is a near-lock to be picked in Wednesday’s second round.

Saunders, who is recovering from a torn ACL he suffered in February, is expected to hear his name called between picks 31 and 45, currently sitting at No. 7 on ESPN’s list of best available prospects.

Should Saunders indeed be drafted Wednesday, it will mark the first time BYU has ever had two players chosen in the first two rounds of an NBA draft (BYU has had multiple players selected within the first 60 picks of a draft in both 1982 and 1966, although none of those players were first rounders).
