Meghan Hunter, a former BYU All-American, placed third in the 800-meter run Sunday at the U.S. track and field championships in New York.
Hunter, who set a still-standing all-classification state record in the 400-meter dash for Provo High in 2018, finished with a time of 1:59.67. Nia Akins and Addy Wiley finished one-two with times of 1:59.25 and 1:59.40, respectively.
The field included two Olympians, two former U.S. champions and three former NCAA champions.
Hunter completed her NCAA eligibility at BYU in 2025.

On Saturday, Hunter’s former BYU teammate, Lexi Halladay, won the 3,000-meter steeplechase to claim her second consecutive national championship.
