Former New York City mayor Mike Bloomberg and Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard are on the board.
What’s going on?
- Bloomberg has won his first batch of delegates with a victory in the U.S. territory American Samoa.
- America Samoa has six delegates up for grabs.
- CNN said: “The Bloomberg campaign said Monday it has seven full-time staff located in American Samoa. They are also running television ads, targeted radio ads and targeted digital and print ads across the islands, according to the campaign.”
Bloomberg spending didn’t work elsewhere, though
- Per reports, Bloomberg spent more than $35 million in Virginia and North Carolina. Early exit polls showed that he didn’t reach the 15% threshold for delegates.
Tulsi Gabbard also did well
- Gabbard also earned some votes in American Samoa, finishing with 29%, according to poll results. This means she likely earned one delegate, meaning she can return to the debate stage.
