An eastern Idaho middle school suffered from a school shooting Thursday, as two students and one custodian were injured, The Associated Press reports.

KTVB reports that the shooting occurred at Rigby Middle School Thursday morning.

  • A male suspect was taken into custody.
  • Students were evacuated to a high school in the area.

Jefferson County Sheriff Steve Anderson told The Associated Press that the victim's injuries were likely not life-threatening.

  • “Today we had the worst nightmare a school district could encounter. We had a school shooting here at Rigby Middle School,” Jefferson School District Superintendent Chad Martin said, according to The Associated Press. “What we know so far is the shooter has been apprehended. There is no further threat to the students.”

Idaho Gov. Brad Little tweeted about the shooting.

  • “I am praying for the lives and safety of those involved in today’s tragic events,” Little wrote on Twitter. “Thank you to our law enforcement agencies and school leaders for their efforts in responding to the incident. I am staying updated on the situation.”
