Human remains were discovered in Arizona approximately 15 miles from the home of Nancy Guthrie, but authorities say the remains aren’t connected to her disappearance.
The remains were found in a desert area near West Ajo Way and South La Cholla Boulevard, and appear to have been there for an extended period of time, officials said, per CNN.

“At this time, there is no indication they are connected to the Nancy Guthrie investigation,” the Pima County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement about the remains. “Additional information will be released as it becomes available.”
Nancy Guthrie, the mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie, vanished from her home in the early hours of Feb. 1 and is believe to have been kidnapped. The 84-year-old was last seen on Jan. 31. Her phone and critical medication were left at her home.
According to CNN, investigators do not have a leading theory for a motive in her disappearance. Investigators are still running lab analyses on DNA found in Nancy Guthrie’s home.
The sheriff’s department did not share information on who found the remains, when they were located or why there is no immediate connection to the Guthrie case.
Multiple media outlets have reached out for more information on the remains.
“Outside of what we posted on social media, we do not have any additional information to provide at this time,” the sheriff’s department told People.
The discovery of these remains comes three weeks after the department confirmed that hair found in Guthrie’s house has not led them to the identity of a suspect. Authorities also recently released the text of two ransom notes sent after Nancy Guthrie disappeared.
