MAGNA — A 44-year-old man who prosecutors say picked up a girl from school for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity was charged Tuesday.
Robert Garza Perez, of Magna, was charged in 3rd District Court with attempted forcible sodomy, a first-degree felony, and unlawful sexual activity with a minor, a third-degree felony.
A 16-year-old girl told police that in October, Perez picked her up from school and then drove to a recreation center where he attempted to force her to perform a sex act, according to charging documents. The girl resisted, got out of the car and walked home, the charges state.
On another occasion, Perez again picked the girl up and drove her to her workplace where he “gave her hickies on her neck,” the charges state.
Charging documents do not state how the two met. A $500,000 warrant was issued Tuesday for Perez’s arrest.
