VINEYARD — A seventh person has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Vineyard a week ago after police say the man bragged about it on social media.
“Antonio was boasting on social media and to friends that he got away. He knew officers were looking for him for questioning and delayed apprehension,” a police booking affidavit states.
Antonio Fuerte Shearer-Davis, 20, of Salt Lake City, who goes by the moniker “Ghost,” was arrested Wednesday night for investigation of kidnapping and robbery.
On May 12, a group went to an apartment in Vineyard with the intention of robbing the tenant of drugs “in revenge” during a home invasion, according to the Utah County Sheriff’s Office. The tenant, however, shot at the intruders, killing one man. Detectives determined the fatal shooting of Robert Jalil Williams, 20, of Salt Lake City, was an act of self-defense.
Six people were arrested following the shooting, including two juveniles. At the time, investigators said they were looking for additional suspects.
After fleeing the scene in an SUV, Shearer-Davis asked to be dropped off about a block away from the shooting scene, according to a police affidavit. He then approached a woman at random who was on her way to work and begged her for a ride.
“He would not stop asking the woman and followed her, insisting that she give him a ride. Fearing for her safety, she drove him as far as her workplace in Lindon. She then reported the encounter to co-workers who assured her of her safety. They then reported it to law enforcement,” the affidavit states.
Police say Shearer-Davis is a documented gang member and belongs to the same gang as Williams did.
