More than a thousand protesters marched in downtown Salt Lake City Monday evening in honor of black Americans killed during confrontations with police. Salt Lake City police officers and Utah National Guard soldiers dressed in riot gear kept watch in front of city buildings.

Monday’s protest came just days after a turbulent weekend in Salt Lake City and across the country, as racial tensions have escalated following the death of George Floyd under the knee of a Minneapolis police officer.
