WEST VALLEY CITY — Police have identified a gunman in connection to a fatal shooting in West Valley City Monday night.

Edwin Carrillo, 40, is wanted in connection to a shooting that occurred near 1400 West and 3500 South about 7:10 p.m. Monday, according to West Valley police.

Abdulraheem Al-Hisnawi, 49, was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries.

Police say Carillo fled on foot after the shooting. A motive has not been released, although police say Carillo and Al-Hisnawi knew each other.

Carillo, who according to police also goes by “Shorty,” is 5 feet 3 inches tall and has “ORGULLO” tattooed along his hairline.

In a news release, West Valley police said Carillo should be considered armed and dangerous, and urged the public not to approach him. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 801-840-4000.
