On the day when they had to declare their 26-man playoff roster to the International Hockey League, the Salt Lake Golden Eagles picked up another left winger.

Joining the club Tuesday was 6-foot-2, 215-pound Darren Banks, who turns 24 on Sunday. Banks comes to the Eagles from the Knoxville Cherokees of the East Coast League, where he scored 23 goals and 19 assists in 42 games - a point a game. He also had 231 penalty minutes. The Cherokees finished their season Saturday, Banks scoring a hat trick in that game, and he was signed by the Calgary Flames as a free agent and sent to Salt Lake. A Toronto native, he played at Brock University in St. Catherine's, Ontario. The Eagle roster includes those players currently on the team plus goalie Steve Guenette, now with Calgary, and defenseman Jim Leavins, who's playing in Europe but has a deal to come back. Also named are a junior and a collegian.

Goalie Randy Jaycock is on the Eagles' club as an emergency replacement, meaning he can only play if Wayne Cowley is injured.
