KATHIE LEE PROVES SHE HAS THE KNACK FOR PULLING IN VOTES

Maybe Kathie Lee Gifford should run for president; she sure knows how to run a campaign. Nearly 18,000 viewers voted for Gifford, the co-host of "Live with Regis and Kathie Lee," in TV Guide's "Most Beautiful Woman on TV" balloting. The runners-up - Jaclyn Smith and Nicollette Sheridan - each got fewer than 4,000 votes. Gifford and partner Regis Philbin - as they are wont to do - turned the voting into a running gag on their show. They brought Gifford out with an apple pie topped by an American flag, had her do a cheerleading bit and solicited sportscaster-husband Frank Gifford and baby son, Cody, to appear in a weeklong mock on-air campaign. Still, Gifford said she was shocked to win. "Jaclyn, Nicollette Sheridan, Connie Sel-lecca: These are drop-dead beautiful women. I have a crooked nose. I have a crooked everything."
