Preliminary autopsy results on entertainer Pearl Bailey, who died Friday in Philadelphia at age 72, show that her death was caused by a disease that impedes blood flow to the heart, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital said Monday.

Bailey was pronounced dead at the hospital about a half-hour after collapsing in her hotel room. She was undergoing physical therapy after knee surgery six weeks ago.The hospital said there was no evident connection between her death, caused by arteriosclerotic coronary artery disease, and the knee surgery.

The veteran singer and actress had a history of heart problems.
