San Antonio center David Robinson took a brief break from basketball on Monday to marry Valerie Hoggatt in a Baptist church ceremony attended by family and friends.
Robinson's teammates, coach Larry Brown and Spurs owner Red McCombs were among the 200 guests. Teammates Terry Cummings, Sean Elliot and Avery Johnson were groomsmen.The couple was married at Tried Stone Baptist Church, where they and Robinson's parents, Freda and Ambrose Robinson, attend church and where Freda Robinson teaches Sunday school.
The couple met in Los Angeles, where the bride attended college.
Although Robinson was excused from practice Monday morning, the couple didn't have much time for a honeymoon. He was scheduled to fly Tuesday morning to Dallas, where the Spurs play the Mavericks Tuesday night.
