Former U.S. Rep. Mario Biaggi was resting with relatives Sunday, a day after his release for health reasons from a Texas prison where he served time for his conviction for corruption, his attorney said.

Biaggi, a Democrat and 10-term member of Congress, left a Fort Worth federal prison Saturday morning under a court order issued Friday by U. S. District Judge Constance Motley.Biaggi, 73, entered the penitentiary in October to serve an eight-year sentence. He had tried to appeal his federal court conviction to the Supreme Court, but in March the high court refusd to review the case.
