"Art that Moves the World" is the theme of the 1991-92 season for the Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, with two major programs on the agenda.

"The company is entering its 28th Salt Lake City season with some new dancers, new staff, new board members and new ideas, but the same message - that `dance is for everyone,' " said co-artistic director Joan Woodbury. The season opens at the Capitol Theater on Nov. 1 and 2 with "Beyond the Wall," a celebration of Ririe-Woodbury's relationship with the German people. The company will just have arrived from its second tour of Germany Oct. 1-10, and participation in the Begegnungen Festival in Chemnitz, Germany.

This program will include two numbers from the German tour - "Affectionate Infirmities" by Woodbury, and "Walls," a response to the tearing down of the Berlin Wall, by Shirley Ririe. There will also be two premieres: "Blue Horses" by Keith Johnson and "White," based on the vision of falling snow, by national-award-winning Utah choreographer John Mead.

"Salute to Choreographers" on April 24 and 25, 1992, will feature works of three respected and prolific choreographers. Internationally known dance artist Doug Nielsen will be featured as soloist and choreographer, and Woodbury will premiere her "Episodes," a work inspired by her experiences in Germany. Ririe will also contribute a new piece.

The company will present its annual youth performance on Jan. 29-31, dancing "The Electronic Dance Transformer," a computer-generated show for children of all ages.

And on March 19, Ririe-Woodbury will join with the University of Utah and Space Agency Concerts to present "The Best of Mummenschanz," a Swiss troupe that offers a unique mixture of acting, mime, dance, giant puppetry and magic.

Season tickets are now available by calling 328-1062. All programs will be in the Capitol Theater.
