Oleita Wheeler Burr Sumens, our loving and gracious mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, age 87, ended her earthly mission and returned home to her Father-in-Heaven Nov. 16, 1992.
Oleita was born Oct. 15, 1905, in Cortez, Colorado to Albert D. and Alice Wheeler Burr. She married George William Sumens Nov. 27, 1926, in Salt Lake City; marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Oleita was an active and stalwart member of the LDS Church, serving in many ward and stake capacities on the Sunday School, Primary, and Relief Society boards. Just prior to her death she was teaching the Spiritual Living lesson in Relief Society. She loved to serve others and was a devoted mother.She is survived by: Her children, Beverly McCandless, Faye Jones (Myron), Jeanine Lane (Carlton), David Sumens (Peggy); 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Wesley; sisters, Irene and Ada. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, George, her parents, brother, Cliff, sisters, Ina, Alberta, and Thelma, and a grandson, John.
Funeral services will be held Thurs., 11 a.m., in the Millcreek 5th Ward Chapel, 3805 So. Main. Friends may call at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State, Wed., 6-8 p.m., and at the church Thursday, 10-10:45 a.m.
Interment, Murray City Cemetery.
