Brian Head Ski Resort, east of Cedar City, has been purchased by Brian Head Resort Inc., a group of private investors headed by James Trees, who also owns and operates the Brian Head Hotel.

The sale by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. is expected to give a new future for the resort, which has operated under federal bankruptcy protection for more than four years."We are pleased to see Brian Head in the hands of a group as fiscally sound and professionally directed as the one Jim Trees has assembled," said Stanley B. Parrish, Utah Department of Community and Economic Development executive director.

The new owners say they plan numerous improvements at Brian Head but won't raise ticket prices during the 1992-93 ski season. Adult lift ticket prices will remain at $28 per day and $25 per day for two or more days.

They also are working on a master plan for development of the mountain's facilities and water resources, including installation of state-of-the-art snowmaking equipment.

There also are plans for improvements to the hotel with a new entrance facing the mountain, constructing a year-round indoor/outdoor pool and spa, upgrading the restaurants and guest services and building tennis courts and other summertime amenities.
