John B. Goddard is retiring as chief executive officer of United Savings Bank and Western Mortgage Loan Corp. after leading the two companies for 50 years, but he will remain as chairman of the board.

Mary Ann Garner, senior vice president and director of Western Mortgage and a senior vice president of United Savings Bank, is the new chief executive officer.An executive committee consisting of Garner, Paul A. Neuenschwander, president of United Savings Bank, and Chad E. Mullins, president of Western Mortgage, will direct the operations of the companies.

This year United Savings Bank and Western Mortgage are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the B.H. Goddard Agency, the company from which the other two emerged. In conjunction with the celebration and his 72nd birthday, Goddard announced his retirement.

Garner has been with the two companies for 23 years. She also serves on the board of the directors of the Utah State Retirement System, the Utah Mortgage Bankers Association and University of Utah David Eccles School of Business Alumni.

Neuenschwander has been with United Savings for 19 years, serving as president since 1984. He is vice chairman of the Utah Money Management Council and chairman of the Utah State Real Estate Commission.

Mullins has been with Western Mortgage for 17 years, serving as president since 1981. He is a member of the advisory board for Key Bank of Utah, served on the executive committee of First Nationwide Network and served on the Utah State Higher Education Master Plan board of advisers.
