Harry Gant stretched his mileage to the limit Sunday to win the Champion Spark Plug 400 at Michigan International Speedway.

The 52-year-old Gant increased his own record as the oldest driver to win a NASCAR Winston Cup race. Gant, who now has 18 career victories, was able to top off his gas tank just before the halfway point in the race, during what turned out to be the final caution period of the 200-lap race on Michigan's two-mile oval.Gant's Oldsmobile Cutlass crossed the finish line 4.94 seconds ahead of second-place Darrell Waltrip. Bill Elliott finished third, extending his series lead over fifth-place finisher Davey Allison to 37 points.
