Richard Worthington finally made it into the Nevada prison system Tuesday morning.
Worthington was flown to Carson City, where he will undergo psychiatric evaluations and orientations for about three to four weeks, according to corrections spokesman Jack Ford. After that, officials will decide the best place to house the former Sandy man.Tuesday's transfer marks the fifth time the 42-year-old has been relocated in the 18 months he's been in prison. Worthington was originally committed to the Utah State Prison in Draper in April 1992. Shortly thereafter he was moved to the New Mexico Corrections Department because of problems with other inmates and his family.
After Worthington had been transferred to every prison facility in New Mexico's system, officials there told Utah they wouldn't keep him. Nevada offered to take him, and he was flown there by Utah officials Tuesday morning. Worthington has attempted suicide half a dozen times since his arrest in September 1991.
