Salt Lake businessman Jess A. Agraz has been elected to the boards of directors of Key Bancshares of Utah and Key Bank of Utah.
A principal of Bingham Engineering and a former Salt Lake City commissioner, Agraz has 28 years engineering experience, specializing in transportation."Agraz has an excellent background in business and strong managerial skills," said Ross E. Kendell, Key Bank president and chief executive officer.
"His broad community involvement, special experience and technical expertise will enable him to provide valuable input to our boards."
Agraz began his career as a traffic engineer for the Utah Department of Transportation. He was appointed Salt Lake City traffic engineer in 1969.
He has served as an adjunct professor in the University of Utah Engineering Department and, after election to the City Commission in 1976, administered the city's Department of Public Works.
In 1980, he joined Bingham Engineering as senior transportation engineer. He is currently a principal, director and a major shareholder of the company that is involved in hydroelectric, commercial development and municipal services projects throughout the western United States.
He is currently a fellow in the Institute of Transportation Engineers, serves on the board of the Salt Lake Convention and Visitors Bureau, is vice president of the National Society to Prevent Blindness, and serves on the advisory board of the Guadalupe Schools.
Agraz holds bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering and engineering administration from the University of Utah.
