Dean Thomas Smith, 64, of Orem, Utah, died of injuries suffered in a traffic accident December 14, 1993.

Dean was born October 27, 1929 in Cowley, Wyoming, the son of Herman T. and Edetha Thomas Smith. He married Donna McArthur, August 6, 1957 in the Idaho Falls Temple. He graduated from high school in Cowley, Wyoming and from Brigham Young University.He is survived by his wife, Donna, of Orem; two daughters and three sons, Carol Ann Simmons, Elko, Nevada; Janet Bassett, Houston, Texas; Dr. Samuel M. Smith, Boca Raton, Florida; Eric M. Smith, Lovell, Wyoming; and Ned M. Smith, Portland, Oregon; along with 16 grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Clara McDermott, Salt Lake City; Rachel Burke, Prosser, Wash.; seven brothers, Rawlen T. Smith, Denver, Colorado; Fred T. Smith, Alpine; Grant T. Smith, Golden, Colorado; Melvin T. Smith, Mt. Pleasant; Blake T. Smith, Billings, Montana; Ellis T. Smith, Twin Falls, Idaho; and Neff T. Smith, Albuquerque, New Mexico. Preceding him in death was a small daughter, Linda, and his parents.

Funeral services will be held Sat., December 18, 11 a.m. in the Orem Timpview Third Ward, 1075 West 1100 North. Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 600 East 800 North, Orem, and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the ward chapel, prior to services. Burial will be in Cowley, Wyoming.
