The Davis County Commission has allocated up to $4,500 to study the feasibility of developing a golf course in west Syracuse. The study will be performed by an Ogden consulting and engineering firm.

The county is looking at about 65 acres near the Antelope Island State Park causeway entrance.Commissioner J. Dell Holbrook said the property owners are considering donating the land to the county in return for retaining development rights on property around the course.

Davis County currently operates two golf courses, one in Layton and one in Fruit Heights, and Holbrook said he believes if development of a third course appears feasible it could be done without bonding.
