Former Wimbledon champion Pat Cash is delaying until next week a decision on whether to take a wild-card berth in the Australian Open.

Cash wants to see what kind of shape he's in after being out for about a year becuase of a knee injury. He will get that chance in the Kooyong Classic round robin starting Sunday.The Australian Open, Jan. 17-30, is first of the Grand Slams.

"I've got three matches in four days and I'll see how I pull up after that," Cash said Thursday.

The 28-year-old right-hander said his comeback was on schedule after he played doubles in a satellite event in Adelaide two weeks ago.

"When I had the operation on my knee in June, I said it would take 30 weeks . . . so everything is going to plan," he said.
