Ethel Thaxton Erickson, age 98, died December 23, 1993 at a health care center in Sandy, Utah of causes incident to age.

Born August 11, 1895 in Mt. Carmel, Utah to George Henry and Annie Marie Todd Thaxton. Married Emil F. Erickson August 11, 1915 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died April 14, 1958 in Murray, Utah.Ethel was the only captain of the DUP Horn Silver Camp in Murray for about 20 years. She had many church callings, which she filled willingly and conscientiously. She made many beautiful quilts.

Survived by a son, E. La Var Erickson, Murray; two brothers, Walter (Dorothy) Thaxton, West Valley City; and G. Marvin (Virginia) Thaxton, Salt Lake City; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by sisters, Mary T. Wren, Elizabeth T. Nelson, Melvie T. Kendrick, Ardella T. Harvey, Luella T. Reed, Vernetta T. Park, and twin brothers (stillborn).

Funeral services Tuesday, 2 p.m., December 28, 1993, at the Riverside 2nd Ward, 500 West Germania Avenue (5090 South), Murray. Friends may call Monday, 6-8 p.m. at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street, and Tuesday one-half hour prior to services at the church. Interment, Murray City Cemetery.
