Astronaut Frank Borman will always remember one starry Christmas Eve 25 years ago when he took turns reading a good book with two friends.
Borman was commander of the Apollo 8 space flight in December 1968 when he, William Anders and James Lovell Jr. were asked by NASA to say something on Christmas Eve.They decided to read from the Bible about the story of the Earth's creation in a message broadcast around the world.
"The only instructions we were given, considering we were going to have the largest audience to hear the human voice at one time, was to read something appropriate," Borman said.
"Genesis was so right for that moment, I didn't even hesitate," Borman said.
