Grant J. Halverson, 94, died in Salt Lake City on Christmas Day, 1993.
He was born on June 3, 1899 in Spanish Fork, Utah to Thomas and Emma Johanna Otteson Halverson. He married Minnie Leah Clayson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on March 23, 1921.Grant was a farmer in his early years and later operated the Smith-Halverson automobile agency in Nephi, Utah. He later worked as a realtor in Spanish Fork. He made many good friends and considered them to be treasures in his life. Grant was a high priest in the LDS Church and has served as counselor in the bishopric, Sunday School president, Boy Scout leader and various other callings. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, family and friends.
Grant is survived by his wife; two daughters, Lois Taylor, Salt Lake City; Doris Deane (Fred) Baugh, Brigham City; one son, Jay Grant (Gerry) Halverson, Sacramento, Calif.; two sisters, Clara Price, Ogden; Fern Downey, Battle Ground, Wash.; 12 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Renae; seven brothers and sisters; and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 29, 1993 at 1 p.m. in the Walker Mortuary Chapel, 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork. Friends may call at the mortuary on Wednesday one and one-half hours prior to services. Burial will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
