Lillis M. Oberg Sandstrom, 85, died peacefully on Christmas Day, December 25, 1993 in West Jordan, Utah after struggling with cancer.
She was born May 14, 1908 in Mayfield, Utah, the daughter of Edwin Gothard Oberg and Mary Elizabeth Jensen. She married Jesse Wilford Sandstrom on June 26, 1930 in Farmington, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on June 21, 1958. He preceded her in death on July 12, 1956.Lillis was a wonderful mother and influence in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a devoted member of the LDS Church and served in many capacities including, Relief Society president, Spiritual Living teacher, MIA teacher, and MIA presidency. She also wrote and directed Roadshows. Member of the DUP.
Her hobbies included: quilt making, sewing, poetry, gardening and painting. Hers was a life of caring service to others.
Survivors: daughter, Gwen (Cal) Crump, Copperton; sons, Jack E., Salt Lake City; Ted W. (Linda), South Jordan; Sidney R. (Linda), Brentwood, Tennessee; Terry W. (Jeanette), St. George; 25 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Ellen Steck, Edith Trapp, Pearl Rabb, Erma Nicholson; brother, Lynn Oberg.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Christina; and brother, Edgar.
Funeral services Wednesday, December 29, 1993 at 1 p.m. in the Copperton LDS Ward Chapel, Copperton, Utah. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State, Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday at the church from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens.
At Lillis' request, in lieu of flowers, the family recommends donations to Primary Children's Medical Center.
