Two longtime Wyoming rivals and a newcomer to the Cowboy state will be in Casper this week as the Wyoming Cowboys try for their seventh championship at the Cowboy Shootout Tournament.

The two-day tournament opens Tuesday at the Casper Events Center with Wyoming's first-round game against Idaho State at 7 p.m., followed by another first-round match between Old Dominion and Utah State.Utah State, 2-4, is led by sophomore Eric Franson and junior Corwin Woodard, each with 11.3 points per game. However, the Aggies will be without leading scorer Bryon Ruffner. Ruffner, averaging 12.8 points a game, is out for the season after aggravating a back injury against BYU on Dec. 14.

Old Dominion, of the Colonial Athletic Conference, enters the tournament behind the shooting of sophomore Odell Hodge with 18.6 points per game, and junior Petey Sessoms with 18.1 points.

The winners of Tuesday's games will meet in the tournament's championship, while the losers will face off in the consolation championship on Wednesday.
